Do I Expect Eggs From My "egg layers?"

Hi everyone!

I got 3 "egg layers" from the local feed store that are now about 5 weeks old. Is this old enough to tell gender? They are ALL growing very small nubs on the back of their legs that look kinda like spurs. Do hens grow mini-spurs or should I count on getting 3 little alarm clocks rather than egg layers?

Thanks!

A lot of hens, infact most hens, have the tiniest nubbins for spurs on their legs. At 5 weeks, it depends on growth rate itself and breed of chicken. Mine I can easily tell sex, as they are 4-6 weeks old, but it really does depend on breed.

Pictures would help.

Agree that pics would defiantly help, but hens can have spurs or nubs so that would not necessarily mean anything.
