So... I had 4 guinea fowl of breeding age that I sold. The neighbors were most likely going to kill me if I didn’t rehome them. Breeding time was very loud.

I have hatched a few rare breed potluck hatching eggs in the past 4 or 5 months. During those hatchings I threw in a few of our own chicken eggs knowing they would be mixed breed chickens. Two hatched from our own eggs. Carried on with life, thought nothing of them being mixed breed as they were just pretty blue chimkens.

Two days ago I ran into a pile of eggs in the bushes. Found an egg in the pile of 8 that looked like a guinea egg. I ASSUMED it was an old pile of eggs from chickens and guinea, so I disposed of them. The Guineas were sold a couple of months or more ago.

Today I gathered eggs from both of the coops and found another guinea egg! I swear it’s guinea... the shell of the first one I broke was very hard compared to chicken egg shell. Just like guinea. What are your thoughts? I have one chicken that looks a little different, named Dodo. We always thought she looked weird, but never would have guessed a chinea...

Does anyone have a confirmed chinea/guicken that they have photos of? Or am I just losing my mind and a chicken laid a VERY guinea looking egg?

Chicken eggs can come in quite a few shapes, sizes, and colors.
I've had some that had really hard shells, and some that didn't.

Your chicken looks like a pure chicken to me.

So no, I do not think you have a chicken/guinea cross. Just a hen laying slightly unusual eggs.

Ok. I’ll stop letting my mind wonder...

Not sure if anyone has gold panned before, but when you do, you KNOW right away when you have gold in the pan. Almost how it was when I found the first egg. Instant, “oh crap that’s a guinea egg and I don’t have guinea anymore.”

Damn chickens always messing with me!
