Do I have a cockerel?

One of these two larger RIR is supposedly a roo-but for the life of me they look like pullets.

Do I have a coop of ladies only?

Forgot to add-we are guessing they are between 8-10 weeks old. We got four from the same gentleman who said "a few months old" and ended up with two who were MAYBE 6 weeks, and two who were easily 10 weeks.

While they may have some RIR blood in them, they are likely a mix of some kind. They have markings in their color not found in the RIR and one has white legs, also betraying that they are mixed.

They look like ladies to me but I would keep an eye out on the wattles. If one is a male and other female you will be able to tell by looking at the wattles.

As for any being cockerels, look for those who very early on, say at 8 weeks up to 12 weeks with deep red combs and wattles. Those will be your cockerels. Pullets don't normally show much comb or wattle development until they are closer to maturity.

Bummer, I wish we lived closer! I live in the city where we can't have roosters and so far, this spring, I've had two. Now, the one I'm suspicious about is a RIR. It was given to me and I'd gladly give "Rudy" to you.

Awh, i'd take him! It's no biggie, except that means expanding boy chicken wil have five ladies!
