Hey all! I bought a few chicks from the ranch store and I was told they were Cochin breed. I have 4 and 1 of them has completely different shape and texture in her feather growth. They are all 3 weeks old now. Can you tell me if I got a Frizzle on my hands? Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated...

Frizzle, haha. Based on the pictures, I would say so.

This is one of mine that has abnormal feather pattern. Her wing span has short and long feathers next to each other... I thought originally that she would be a frizzle but now I am thinking lavender orp.

Op- you chick does not look frizzled.

poster above- frizzle is not a breed, it is sort of a type of feathering. You can have frizzled orps, frizzled cochins, and so on. Your chick does not look frizzled either.

Duckplois - Thanks for the input and the welcome!

Ramirezframing - Thats a great pic of the feathers turning. How old is the first chick in the picture?

Morontas - Great pics! Your chick looks just like mine.

My next question for all:

Here is my other Cochin, I was told they are the same age (of 3 weeks old)..
Why are the feather growth between the two so different?

I am a completely new chicken owner. These are my first chicks ever so your input and help is greatly appreciated as I start my journey :)

To me they don't look like they are feathering out so differently, well beside their coloring. Maybe I can't see it in the picture, but maybe the pattern is making ones feathers seem longer than the other. Males usually feather slower than females though.
