I am 100% certain that this is a rooster. He is a hatchery Welsumer. Am I right?

I am 90% certain that this is a pullet. She is also a hatchery Welsumer. Do I have a pair?

Yay! That's fantastic! I was really worried that she was shaping up to be a he, but with all of the beautiful iridescent feathers on him and not on her, I was fairly sure I had a pair. Unfortunately, they were the only survivors of a bunch of Welsumer chicks . . . if I hatched some of her eggs to get more hens and put the hens with their parents, would that cause genetic issues?

Quote:Actually, you can if you have good stock to start with and pay attention to who you breed. It's called linebreeding and is quite common.

Grandparents to their grand kids is actually one of the best forms of linebreeding. Of course before you do it you would want to have a healthy understanding of Genetics.
