By that point, it's probably too late to caponize. Did you also read what the procedure is? Here is a pretty informative thread on the procedure.hmm, didn't even know you could have that done with chickens. I had to look up what that meant
I probably would only go that route as a last resort if I couldn't find anyone that would take him in (if it is a "him")

I will not caponize my roosters, but I live on a farm so I can have as many as I can handle. Personally, if you are not allowed roosters, I would just move him along to someone who can and find your pullet another friend. The sooner the better in my opinion - I don't think pecking order is quite as big a deal when they're younger.
