Try the compressed wood pellets for your chicks; you'll love them.
Marbles for the waterer.

And I'd second paper towels. Not just for putting over the pellets/shavings at first, but because you're going to be doing a LOT of cleaning, and unless you like washing rags, PTs it is. Buy a Brawny 8-pack XD
