Before 16 weeks is often not worth the meet in this breed. But we butcher when hormones dictate the need according to flock dynamics. The first time I was very slow wrapping my head around the process and birds were closer to 35 weeks. The older the bird, the firmer the meat, the lower and slower the heat and the rest in the fridge (or brine) before cooking.

Craigslist farm and garden section is also a good place to advertise for free even if you ask a fee for them. If you don't wanna know they will be dinner, just say so in the ad. Also, adding your general location to your profile will help peeps make the best suggestions possible at a glance.

If they came from a hatchery, they should refund you for any non pullets though you will still have to deal with them. If they came from a breeder, they were lying about being able to sex these chicks at day old. Sometimes feed stores do mislabel their bins or make mix ups.

I bought from a breeder bc wanted this color and type. He lied and won’t return any messages. Ugh
