Do I have Amerecaunas or EEs? I would like to hear from lots of people!

Do I have EEs or Amerecaunas? They were labeled "Amerecauna" at the feedstore, but someone told me they are EEs. Pls help.

Unless you buy them specifically from a reputable ameraucana breeder it is usually a safe bet that what you have is an Easter Egger. Feed stores usually buy from Hatcheries and Hatcheries sell easter eggers under the name Ameraucana/Araucana or more cleverly "Americana" to intentionally trick people into thinking its the real deal. You may end up with blue eggs but you could also end up with green brown tinted or any other color variation. If I were you i'd just assume its an easter egger and call it a day. They may not be an established breed but they are cute and make nice colored eggs. Ameraucanas, as an established breed, have a standard of perfection and will breed true. An Easter Egger does not breed true and their appearance is varied depending upon what they are mixed with. If you want to learn more about Ameraucanas you can check out www.ameraucana.org which is the Ameraucana Breeders Club. Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, i'm not trying to poo poo on your great birds. I'm just being realistic. Also, you never know maybe yours really are the real deal. Ask your feed store where they got them and research it.

They are probably EE, but you never know, they seem to be right colors, I do see dark legs on most, the Ameraucana is an actual breed, that lays blue eggs, the EE is a mutt, with different colors of eggs.

The one with yellow legs is a Gold Laced Wyandotte cockerel. Your others are definitely Easter Eggers and look like pullets!

It's a good thing they're all females, because I live where there is chicken laws, so the neighbors would get mad if they were crowing. Another problem would be to catch the crowing one, and find out who did it. lol

You have 3 Easter Eggers, and 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte. They are Easter Eggers, and I'll tell you exactly why they are Easter Eggers and not pure Ameraucana. First, they are clean faced. Ameraucana have muffs and beards, which is a dominant trait. The lack of fluffy cheeks indicates crossbreeding. Second, they are not accepted standard colors. Third, they have green legs. Green leg indicate yellow skin. Ameraucana have white skin, which is a dominant trait. Yellow skin is an indication of crossbreeding.

Agreeing with Rhodebar that the gold-laced wyandotte looks like a cockerel. Very red wattles and comb already. Your Easter Egger pullets are pretty.
