Do I have an Opal Silver Pied?? (Pics)

If there is no green sheen neck feathers coming in it is Opal,,I've never heard of an Opal-Silver pied before,,Opal split to Silver pied,or I seen at Mt Hope this spring a Silver pied split to Opal but not both colors at once,it has to be either one or the other or split to the second color.Your pics doesn't resemble a silver pied in my opinion because there is no black feathers anywhere.I have 2 silver pied hens and both has black on them. The lite gray color yours has resembles silver alot but the necks of your pea has no noticable green feathers. This along with no black feathers leans towards Opal,,good thing you have 3 new opals to add with that one,eh?? I have a beautiful silver pied hen split to b/s and another silver pied hen I should get pics of.Their grey color matches yours 100% but they both have more silver along with a few black feathers especially in their wings.

Silver Pied is a pattern, though. Peas can have one color and a pattern, or sometimes two patterns, as in Black Shoulder and Silver Pied. Silver Pied doesn't necessarily mean it will have black feathers, I don't think. Your Silver Pied hens are India Blue, if this one is Opal, then it will be different, no doubt. Silver Pied means one copy of the white gene, one copy of the pied gene, and one copy of the white-eye gene, resulting in a bird with more white than color, yes? Not always a "Silver" color, I think that'd only be the case in IB? Even if its a female it would have green feathers? IF it was IB? The only babies I have that have the sheen coming in so far are Hiccup the IB Pied split to Bronze and the Opal BS male. Olav my IB BS male doesn't have any shine yet, and neither does Muppet, who I'm still thinking is a hen.

It sure does look like an Opal silver pied to me. I believe Silver Pied is when 80-90% of the bird is white and about 20% or less makes up the color portion of the bird. Frenchy, you learned something today. Here is a link to the UPA pefowl variety list: http://www.peafowl.org/varieties.htm On it you will see all the beautiful colors that come in silver pied. I want a peach silver pied

Okay,,It's been a long day and the hang thread has me in stitches here,,Post#14,,Mmmaddie,,no the two pieds I have in with my Charcoal male from this year are not IB Silver pieds,,one is a dark pied, the other a silver pied.I misread your post,or misinterpreted it that you thought you had a a two colored bird,,wasn't associating the "Pied" factor,,just the Opal Silver stood out,,forgive me.
