@junebuggena, what do you mean when you say the "barring is too light?" I just got some chickens and one is a barred cochin. I am trying to understand what references mean. Thank you.

Males that are pure for the barring gene have two copies, making their white stripes thicker and giving an overall lighter appearance. Females can only ever have a single copy, making them look darker.
Males have thicker white stripes and more narrow black stripes. Females have thicker black stripes and more narrow white stripes.
 
@junebuggena, thank you for explaning. I appreciate it. Here is my little girl. So with that logic, she seems like she has bigger and more black stripes. Do you think she could br a girl?
