Males that are pure for the barring gene have two copies, making their white stripes thicker and giving an overall lighter appearance. Females can only ever have a single copy, making them look darker.@junebuggena , what do you mean when you say the "barring is too light?" I just got some chickens and one is a barred cochin. I am trying to understand what references mean. Thank you.
