Do I have to have nesting boxes for my new hens to lay?

I recently got two Rhode Island Red laying hens. I don't have any nesting boxes in my coop, and the lady I bought them from had nesting boxes and they laid a egg a day each. Below is my coop.

They will feel more secure with a set nesting box. Plus, it will keep down on the poopy eggs.

I would build one for them. They like to lay where its nice and dark. At least mine do. I got 5 nesting boxes for ours and they always lay in the one that is the darkest.
