Do I have to litter on the coop floor?

Should I put something on tue coop floor? I'm not quite sure how I would use it for fertilizer if I do? My chicks aret in the coop yet. They have a couple of weeks. Thanks for all your answers!

I would use pine shavings. They will compost over time and mixed with the droppings make a pretty good garden amendment and mulch around trees and shrubs. It also makes the coop less unappealing since the droppings are not stuck to the floor but mixed in with the shavings. And, they help keep the apparent moisture level down.
