I just lightly pushed mine back with a damp q tip...so that I could see a little better....just keep wetting and peeling the shell.....if you notice blood stop and give it a little more time....then try again latter...hope this helps....
They will be weak for the fact they have been trying so long to get out....has the yolk sac completely absorbed? If not you will have to give it time to absorb....
Are you checking that the membrane doesn't have active red blood vessels, then tearing that little bit of the membrane enough to see the chick? Just be sure to not wrench it apart, but to go 1/8" at a time, dampening, checking for blood vessel, tearing to where you can see the baby. Do this in a steamy bathroom, if you can, or in the steam from a pan of boiling water or a teakettle - far enough back not to cook anything, of course - and it will help.
I pealed away more shell and a small amount of the membranes from round its beak, when i checked on it half an hour later its head and upper body is out completely but the bottom half is still in the shell, i'm going to leave it alone for a little while as it looks weak and also to give it extra time to absorb the yolk if it hasn't done so already and for any blood vessels to dry up as i can see quite a big one in the bottom half of the shell.
Sounds like you are doing great! And you are doing everything right. It's a good thing you're giving it time to rest between stages. That will give it a better shot at absorbing everything and catch a quick breath. Sounds like he's out of the woods and will be just fine as long as his yolk absorbs.
