My chickens are approximately 3 1/2 months old. We have a white one (Rainbow breed but looks like a Leghorn) has always been an "oxnard" compared to the others. It's almost almost twice the size of the others. The comb and waddle are much larger than the other ones too. We've heard it attempt crowing 3 times now but needs a LOT more practice. Haha But I've heard it's not uncommon for hens to crow too.

By looking at the saddle feathers, I would say it's a hen, but it has such a "rooster" personality (outgoing - social - aggressive) and I've seen it grab on to the back of the neck of my girls and try to get on top of them.

So....with that being said - do I have a hen or a rooster? What are your thoughts? I'd love to have either.

I'm trying to upload its photo as my avatar but I can't get it to work. Can you embed photos in messages on here? If so, I can't see how to do it. I'll keep trying! :)

Oh okay - thank you! Oh, Petie/Penny is always getting little nubs for spurs, but my Barred Rock has little dots where some should be too. So I guess that's not a way to tell either. Is there anything else I can see to help me determine if I have a boy or girl?

It is very, very uncommon for hens to crow. And unheard of for a pullet of this age to crow. A hen that crows is an older bird, sometimes with a hormonal imbalance. At this age, crowing is male. He's at the younger end of the age range for saddle feathers to start coming in, but they'll get there, trust me
