Do I need a heat light when it's hot at night?(Baby Chicks)

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

How hot is hot? Where are the chicks kept? Even if it's hot outside, it may not be hot in the area they are being housed if they are in doors. How old are the chicks?

We also keep our little flock in a plastic brooder box in a warm garage,so the sun won't beat down on them

You need to get a thermometer in your brooder to know if it is hot enough or too hot. For them, 95 degrees is ideal. Lower the temp by five degrees each week until feathered. You may just need to use the light at night for now.

Ok thanks for the help.I will try to get a thermometer to see the temp.:) It's currently at least 98 or 100 degrees currently

We give them fosset water at room temperature. We clean the bottle every two days.Do I need rain water instead?
