I converted an old wooden small kitchen cabinet into a broody nest box that has a small entrance with a ramp and door on top for cleaning out, also i added a cage that has food and water as well. The nest sits in a old wooden small kitchen drawer which is in side the old wooden small kitchen cabinet.

right now I have a broody using it with 12 eggs.

Would I need air flow in the box ? as of right now it only has one hole that the chicken uses to come out and back into the nest box.

Where are you located? Reason I ask is weather conditions but looks like you're good.

South West Wales and yes the weather was nice and still is today, but it loves to rain too, so pretty normal for May. I has another hatch in May last year in May, but didn't have the old wooden small kitchen cabinet then.

I think your set up is fine for ventilation. I would worry about the cabinet sitting on wet soil. The cabinet material will absorb water quite quickly unless you have it protected somehow. Hard to tell from the pic.

It is sitting on two bits of wood, above it is a aluminum roof sheet, which is part of the chicken run, so it wont get wet, well at least from the top.

Nice idea for recycling the cabinet though! :clap

Thanks
