I went to the feed store yesterday and picked up my first bag of Purina Start & Grow. Got home and reading the label saw that the recommended starter for medium to heavy breeds is Flock Raiser. Will it hurt the chicks to go ahead and feed them what I have or should I take it back and exchange? My chicks will all be med. to heavy breeds.

go ahead an feed the feed you bought.it wont hurt them at all.

Don't know what you have available, but the flock raiser that the feed store has here is pellets, not crumbles. I start all of my chicks (broilers and layers) on the Start and Grow, and they do fine.

Thanks, Frosty, I didn't know that so I will definitely stick with the start & grow. Thanks Wynedot for your help also.

My original flock of pullets was raised on Purina Start & Grow with the addition of chopped hardboiled eggs several times a week. (I added that for hi-quality animal protein that S & G does not have, being a plant protein-based feed). They thrived on it. They were RIRs, Buff Orpingtons, Silver Laced Wyandottes and Barred Rocks. They'll do fine on it. FlockRaiser is a fine product as well.
