Do I need to keep my adult quail warm in winter (southern California)

Hi all, Probably a dumb question but these 2 quail I have are now in my heart.... So it's starting to get cold here in Southern California and I was wondering if I need to provide them some kind of enclosed area to keep warm. These are Gamble quails. I have them in an aviary that I built but not sure if they need a box or something in there with them to get out of wind, etc. Pictures, advice is very welcome.

They dont really need any protection but if you wanted to put plastic around the lower couple feet of the aviary im sure theyll appreciate the wind break.

Also, what can I use for betting? They mostly perch but I want to provide something in case they want a nest like area. Can I use Timothy hay that they sell at pet stores for rabbits?
