Now I'm second guessing myself. I thought it was o.k. to leave them big side up, but I see the photos here of the eggs laying on their sides. Help.

some use eggs cartons to hatch in. laying them on there sides is right. when you use cartons the hatched chicks cant use the unhatched eggs for chick soccer. they will be fine.

I incubated on their sides until last night. Now I'm second guessing myself. I put them in a egg carton tray (with vents in the bottom) with the fat end pointing up. I wanted to prevent chick soccer, but.....now I'm getting higher readings on my thermometer coz it's closer to the heating element.

For the first 17 days I was keeping 99-101 on top of the eggs, and 97-99 on the floor of the bator. Well now that the eggs are closer to the top IF I maintain 99-101 on top of the eggs, the thermometer on the floor never gets above 93-94......but I'm afraid of cooking them, so what temp should I go by????? GAH Now I wish I had a water wiggler thingy so I could keep the internal temp right and say screw the rest.
