Do I need to provide a heat source and if so, when?

when it hits about 35 degrees here in ct. i turn the heat lamp on in the coop. i leave ours on for about 2 months straight, winter cold season, right around the beginning of march, i turn it off.
the electric bill is not as high as one might think.
good luck!

The one I got at Walmart has a remote control device that works up to 100 feet. I used it last night for the first time. Just to get them used to it I turned it on when I collected the last eggs around dinner time. I left it on until 10PM then turned it off, from the kitchen! YEA!!!!

After just 10 days I had to replace all 6 AA batteries in the LED strip. So this won't work for the winter as planned. Maybe I'll find something better at the hardware store on my next visit. But the LED's use too much battery power to be sustainable long term.
