Do I need to trim/remove hens spurs?

Hello. I have had my Welsumer hen, Cinnamon for 6.5 years. She was always second in command until about two years ago when our lead girl died and then cinnamon became lead girl.

The other day a friend came by and noticed her spurs and said I should trim them so nobody gets hurt. I had no idea about trimming spurs. So I looked it up here and see different suggestions; dremel tool, hot potato, dog nail clippers.

My question is, is it necessary to trim them? They have never been a problem. I've integrated new chIckens to the flock a few times. She is a really personable chicken and my kids hold her. I just wonder, have I just gotten lucky and I should trim them now, or should I just leave well enough alone and leave her be?

To give some info, the spurs are looooooong about two inches. They do not really curve. They just stick out. Also, I'm giving day-olds to my broody Cochin to adopt in a couple days, so I'm nervous that the spurs could hurt one of them once they have access too one another in the future.

I wouldnt trim them if shes not being a problem... Though if her spurs are getting a little too long its ok to trim them...

No, it is not necessary to trim them if they are not causing problems.
If no one is getting injured by them, and they are not interfering with her ability to walk or roost...just leave them be.
