Do I really need a door that closes on the coop?

Sounds like the consensus is unanimous! We live in the city, but I've seen opossums and cats in the neighborhood, and I'd hate to lose even a single hen. I suppose we'll have to invest in an automatic door...I often work 30 hours in a row. Thanks for the feedback!

My chickens are as safe in their run as they are in their coop. Of course nothing is completely predator-proof, but I've done my best to make them both as safe as possible.
