do malays need special chicken doors

how tall are malay hens? i know that males are 3 ft but no one ever mentions how tall the hens get. Should i make a extra tall chicken door on the coop?

You know your right, I've never heard how tall a Malay hen gets either, i would love to hear more about the breed myself, hopefully someone who has knowledge about them will come and give us some insight! Sandy

Hmm... I've got a book that lists the cocks at 9 lbs, and 3 feet. For the hens, it says 7 lbs, but doesn't give a height. I'm guessing that they'd be smaller all around to be 2 lbs less.

You could make a taller door to be on the safe side. However, the chickens will duck their heads on the way out if they have to.

You'll need a normal chicken door. You must consider that 1) Malays from hatcheries are MUCH smaller and not as tall and elegant as true to breed Malays, and 2) chickens hunker down to go through a door anyway.
