I have six eggs under a Brahma hen as I was just wondering when they go in the brooder with the mother, will they need a heat lamp in there or will they be fine with the mother warming them up when they are cold? In Michigan right now it is averaging about 65 degrees Fahrenheit outside and 45 and night. I would love some advice.

Just to be clear, this is when they are chicks and are hatched out.

When the chicks are being raised by their mother, they should not need a heat lamp. They will come out to eat and drink, and go back under her to warm up and to sleep.

At first, they spend a lot of time under the hen and only come out for little bits of time. As they get older, they spend more time out and less time underneath her.
