Hi
We live in south Florida so our property is limestone with just a few inches of soil in top. Small pieces of the limestone break off and are mixed in the top soil.
Limestone is 50% calcium and I have seen the chicks eating it so will it give the hens all the calcium they need as they age or should I supply them oyster shells ?

The only way to tell is to wait until they start laying eggs. If the shells are too thin for your liking, then start giving them oyster shells. :)

If your feeding layer then I wouldn't bother with additional calcium. If it's something else it's up to you, I probably would. It's so cheap and goes such a long time. My 50 pound bag was 10 bucks and still has plenty in it after 2 years.
