Do NOT do what I just did

It was day 23 and after seeing no internal or external pipping in 3 eggs that were under my broody hen, but seeing fully developed chicks, I decided to open one up to see what went wrong and to my horror, the chick was still alive with a small amount of unabsorbed yolk but it was too late, I put it in the incubator but it did not survive, I am kicking myself because it was a very healthy chick otherwise, just grew weaker and weaker understandably as the shell was ruined. I placed the 2 eggs back under the hen and today, at day 25, the remaining 2 chicks hatched very healthily. I buried the chick I opened up, really regretted my decision, it was a beautiful black chick of an Easter egger. I actually considered posting on here before regarding what to do with that chick but I knew its chances were too low, and I couldn't have put it back under the hen because she would know something's was wrong and kick it out of the nest anyway. I knew that the temperatures had been up and down and that could have delayed development and should have been more patient - my new limit would probably be day 27 when I discard unhatched eggs from now on.

Ps im not sure how to blur the graphic image, it's the second one

Glad you discovered they were alive and saved 2. I candle eggs before discarding.
I did too ...I saw no movement, that's how I could tell no internal pipping .not sure if I need a more powerful torch but I'm too scared to open up eggs now that's for sure
