do older chickens breathe heavily like old people do?

The others are probably trying to remove it for her. LOL My girls did the same when the one I pictured above first wore her attire. They gave up after a day or so. They will eventually get used to her looking this way. Especially if they have had free range to her feathers! (they want in!

) So I would keep putting it back on and I would bet by tomorrow it stays on.

she definitively does not like to be dressed up. I gave up.

I have just spoken to the breeder I got her from and found out that he forced her to hatch chicks. he was taking the chicks and putting other eggs. poor girl...

Aww...poor girl. Being broody continuously is very draining on them. Not to mention can lead to too many external bugs.

Not all birds tolerate clothing. LOL Do your best to stop the others from plucking her feathers and such.

she has started to talk! it looked like an egg song although I think she will not lay till her feathers grow back. her tail and a part of back are totally naked. when I come she starts to walk and go straight to the feed, lol. the other 2 pullets don't let her eat so I spend some time with them every day.

now I understand why she had so many fleas!

I have two or three places for my flock to feed and drink. There is always a higher in the order bird that hates to see the lower ones eat or drink. They can't guard every area and everybody eats and drinks. Check her crop at roosting time to make sure she has food in it. Run your hand down her breast on the right side. Compare hers to others crops. Birds like to stuff themselves before roosting to make it through the cold night. She needs to have food in her crop at this time. If not, you may need to cage somebody that is preventing her, or cage her a couple hours before roosting so she can eat.

she does eat, like a pig! her crop is like a big ball. I have 3 bowls with feed and she is eating while the other 2 are full up.

yesterday I put her in my vegetable garden to help me with weeds. chicken's run is next to it. all of my big ones came to the wire fence to see her and she was literary shouting, lol.

update: I moved her to the big coop (8 one yo hens, 2 roos, 1 cockerel and 4 pullets + 13 muscovie ducks). they mostly ignored her, only 1 roo and the cockerel showed interest in her but ended up in chasing each other, lol. the other roo was singing and dancing around but did not rape her. she was a bit confused but finally found a quiet place to sunbathe! I put her on the roost and she is sleeping with another brahma next to her. I believe she will enjoy life with my other chickens.
