Do painless peepers stay on forever?

So I ended up putting a pinless peeper on one of my hens who was being a bully. My question is, do people leave these things on indefinitely or do they remove them after a time? Also how long does it take the hen to figure out how to eat and drink with it on? Thanks in advance for any info you provide.

Usually doesn’t take long to find the food and water. They obviously don’t like them at all. I’ve kept them on a hen for a few weeks and then took them off. Honestly it didn’t help. She was just an annoying bird. They are better for pheasants and other game birds.

I read a post yesterday that mentioned removing them after a couple of months and the negative behaviour did not resume.
