Another question...when having multiple peacocks do they get along for the most part? We have 30 chickens 8 of which are roosters. They get along pretty well but our 3 english bantam roos fight constantly. I would like to get another pair of peafowl (as chicks) but I worry about how they peacock I have now will get along with another one once it gets older. Do they have to establish who's boss too or do they get along fairly well?

Any of the Blue India mutations generally get along well. We have a group of about 80 breeder peacocks in one large group; since we moved and do not have indivual breeder pens built yet. We can add young birds or hens to our flock anytime. New breeder males can not be added to the flock DURING breeding season. Once breeding season is done then new males can be added.

When we had our flock divided up into breeding pens, we would turn them all together once they were done breeding and winter them together until the next spring when we would seperate them again. Our old peacock barn was 300 foot long and all we had to do was open the doors between all the pens.

With the Green or Spaulding type Peafowl, we usually only keep one male per pen as they tend to fight alot more during breeding season.

I winter all mine together.

Have a very large flight pen, before breeding all the new colors. All birds were in one pen.

Did see two old peacocks fighting, one got his eye put out.

They need lots of room.
