I am thinking about getting some Peafowl chicks and was wondering if they are susepible to mareks disease?

If so can they be vaccinated with the mareks vaccine you use for chickens?

Thanks

Nobody???

Nobody knows if peacocks should be vaccinated for mareks disease?

Wow !!! Please let me know if they can get mareks. If so is it safe to give them the same mareks vaccine that you give chickens??

Thanks much

I don't know, but I have one peachick that is around 3-months old and plan to get a few more in the spring. The one I have isn't vaccinated, but I worry about him and would like to do the new ones if I can so I'll be watching your thread.

When I vaccinated some new chicks last month I vaccinated the peafowl at the same time. Can't remember now where I read it but I read they can get mareks.

They had no reaction to the vaccine. I know if the virus gets to them before the vaccine takes hold the virus wins and the vaccine won't work but what the hey, I was using the vaccine anyway and it might just work anyway.
