I just got a young pekin and was wondering if they tend to stay on the floor? It doesn't look very aerodynamic. Thanks

They roost. They sometimes need them lower than you’d usually put them for larger birds. Mine are about 2.5ft off their coop floor. My frizzled Pekin roosts on them too.

All of mine do. The frizzled cochin/pekin can not get as high, so I lift her up to the higher roost, so she isn't alone. Our youngest is about 10-11 weeks and he has started roosting instead of huddling on the ground with the other youngsters. Only my young silkies are not roosting. They have a ladder into the coop, but are intimidated by the older chickens.
