Since my birds started laying last week I have put them on 16% layer feed. The feeder full of their start and grow used to last 4-5 days. Now with the layer it goes in just 2 days. They are both crumble feed.

I don't feed starter, crumbles or pellets but would guess if they're laying they should be on layer. The bags would generally give advice on how much, how often, what ages/stages to feed one feed at and switch to another at... Once they start laying the start and grow is possibly too low in calcium etc for their new needs. Anyway best wishes.

They need more energy to produce eggs so that will translate to more feed. In switching feeds, you also increased the appeal my making it new and different so they are eating more as well. It will drop down some in a week.
