My coturnix are absolutely terrible. They're wasteful AND they're gluttons. I have seven of them that are five weeks old, and I feel like they're CONSTANTLY eating. The BF is always saying "don't you ever feed those birds?" God only knows how many times he and his brother feed them, on top of the 3 or so times I feed them per day. This, to beat all, is with NO waste. I have wide spacing in the cage that they're in, so I just put the feed dish on the outside of the cage. They can reach out and get food, but they cannot dig through it or poop in it. I'm hitting the sale tomorrow and hoping to find one of those rabbit feeders that hang on the cage. Hopefully that will minimize feedings per day. I just know that whatever feeder I use, I MUST make sure that it's not inside of the cage. I had thought about building a small little pan on the side of the cage as well. I just haven't decided yet to be honest.
