I have an EE roo and a couple of very submissive low pecking order EE hens. I have never seen my roo service anybody but a GLW. She is in the middle on the pecking order of the flock.

Is it normal for a roo to only service one hen?

Will I have to remove to GLW from the pen so that he will service somebody else - - - I don't know - - - like the EE hens?

Some will definitely pick a favorite. But they typically will service others as well. If you know for sure that's he's not mated ANY of your EE hens, I guess you could try putting him in a separate area with a few of them and see if he'll do the deed. I'm betting he's occasionally mating others, but that it's not happening often and you're not catching it. Also, you may want to go ahead and buy/make a chicken saddle for his favorite in case she starts getting wore down.

How do I find a pattern for a chicken saddle?

She if definitely his FAVORITE girl and I would hate to see her lose the beautiful GLW feathering.
