Do roos purrr too?

I have a "probably" roo that purrs when I talk to him. I know hens do it and that is one of the reason I didnt think he was a "he". Any thoughts on this???

Chickens are chickens - roos can do it too. Mine do it all the time for me.

My guineau Roo does that is the only reason he is still the alpha guy in my group. Well he also follows me around like a puppy dog. What is one to do?

Yes mine does too. Sometimes he acts like a baby and sometime he is standing tall to claim his territory. It is so funny to see the two different personalities. Thanks all for your input.

Ours do that too; both rooster and hens! Our now passed on new jersey giant rooster would purr and make these noises like he was crying!

It was funny. Now, our RIR rooster does it too. He purrs and makes these "arrrrrr eererrrrr....." sounds! LOL

So no, not only hens do it.

ohhhh,,, if you could only hear mine..all of em,, but espeacially my big rir roo,,,purr,, growl,,,,,a dog pound lol
