Do rooster pelvic bones separate?

I believe two fingers is non laying or laying inconsistently. So that would be right. Any more than that is, supposedly, laying.
It's been ages since I did this because I don't care who is laying and who isn't.
Ah, that makes sense, thank you so much!

The lady said she was 3 months but if she is female I doubt she is 3 months, the comb and waddle are way too big in my opinion. I'll go grab so pictures to post.
If she is in fact 3 months(12 weeks) old, comb is pretty large and red.
Pointy saddle and hackle feathers should appear soon if a male.
Have never checked a cockerels pelvic bones.

I thought they were the two bones like directly under the vent?
More to each side of vent.
Here's a diagram, F-F, are the bones to find.
They can be hard to find, even after much practice.

Thanks for that diagram, I was definitely feeling the correct bones, but they are awfully wide, at least for what I'd expect for a cockerel so I guess I'll just have to see what happens. But if she was 3 months I doubt there would be any separation for either genders, so could the lady have gotten the age wrong and she just be more mature than I thought? The lady had tons and tons of birds that she was selling and they free ranged in the woods, so could she have confused this bird with one of her younger pullets?

I have no idea what the spread would be on a male of any age.
I almost wish I still had a cockerel out there to check, along with my 3yo cock.

Sounds like anything is possible.
