do rooster spurs bleed when trimmed?

my roos are starting to grow their spurs and a couple of them are getting pointed and hurting the hens.. we put saddles on them but i am afraid one might get us.. they are quite tame but you never know.. so if we use a dremmel to trim them to 1" long will they bleed or is it like trimming your own nails if you don't go to short
 
They will bleed.

You don't have to trim them if you don't want too. All you have to do is twist them off. The outer covering will come off easily and what will be left is the inner 'bone.' It will harden in time.
