Two of my raised beds are pretty much weed free now. Next they'll get topcoated with compost, then I'll start planting some seeds. And there are two more beds to work on after that.

A few more seeds have finally sprouted - watermelon, zucchini, cantaloupe, Huckleberry, goji berries...

But still a hard NO on the peppers, pumpkin, and cushaw.

Starting on Wednesday, it was supposed to rain for 8 days straight. Yeah, right... No rain yesterday. Sprinkled briefly and lightly overnight. No other rain today. It's because we need it.... If I didn't need it, we'd have gully-washers every single day.

My neighbor brought me some oranges from her tree. Those are the sweetest, juiciest oranges I have ever had. You need a bowl with paper towels to eat them.

My peppers haven’t done anything either yet. I haven’t done pumpkins or cushaw specifically before but did you scarify the seeds? (I feel like I asked this before. If I did I apologize for the repetition.) I did that with most of my big viney plant seeds last year and had good results.

My Brother is not allowed to die before me. In fact, no one in my family is. I have lost enough people in my life already. I am sorry for your loss, Jerry.

Sorry if I missed that question earlier... I've never scarified those types of seeds. Never needed to... I think they will sprout when it gets a little warmer.

What is scarify? I haven't heard that term before so I am curious because if it's something that helps the garden produce then I want to learn how to do it. Thank you in advance for sharing.

I didn't believe that my family could pass before me but I lost my youngest son in 2005 and last year my brother in law. In 2020 I also lost my sister and my aunt. Losing family hurts however we have to move forward.
