Do roosters breed with any breed hen?

Do roosters breed with any hen in the flock or do they choose their own breed? Should I try to control this? Should I stick with one breed?

Roosters are NOT picky!! What you choose is all personal preference. Just don't get tiny hens and a huge rooster so he doesn't smash them flat. I have 6 breeds now and one kind of rooster.

Yeah, they are equal opportunity employers. They don't care what breed. They will have their favorites, but the others get the attention too. Unless you are looking to raise show birds, just let it go. You can stick to one breed if you want, but with so many different breeds and colorations, that to me, would be kinda boring.
