I have 3 adult bantams. Two hens and one rooster. I have had them 8 mos. Yesterday I gave them a treat of lettace and the bossy guttonish hen pecked at the roosters neck trying to get a piece of lettace away from him. He got so mad he chased her around the run and started to fight her with his feet. I had to break it up because he was really being aggressive and worried he would harm her with his spurs. I told him not to ever hit a female no matter what...is this normal for a rooster? I thought only roosters fought other roosters.

Mine will 'fight' over food also, but not to the point of chasing. Two hens is usually not enough for a rooster...they will get overmated. Sometimes chickens will just fight, also. You may want to bring him inside in a dog crate for a day or two, to let the hens have a moment of peace. When he gets back, he will have to regain his place in the pecking order.
