Do roosters sleep with their eyes open?

Because my husband asked and I have no idea.

We have caught our roo roosting in the top of the coop and, when we have gone to shoo him inside the coop, it is like we startled him out of sleep, but his eyes were open. Is Henry weird or is that normal?

hi, could he be blind? I got a cheap security camera on Amazon for inside the coop with IR, these can be used to monitor when they’re sleeping…you could see if he’s closing his eyes at night.

I should say that their eyes glow if they’re open in the dark.

He's definitely not blind. He tracks me in the yard and he successfully hunts bugs for his women.

That'd be great if he slept in the coop. Goober sleeps on TOP of the coop.

He might have just been starting to doze off. I know I tend to do the same.

I would guess he is just moving around.
