My Silver-Laced Sebright is almost 9 months old. She has been a good layer until recently. She was laying every day in February, March, April. In May she started laying every other day. But it has been 5 days since she laid an egg, and I am getting a bit worried.

Her energy seems fine, and she is in good spirits. But it seems like a drastic drop-off in her laying productivity?

Should I give her more laying mash?

I have read that Sebrights tend to be poor layers, but this has not been the case for her. But do they maybe have a drop in productivity as they get older, say 9 months old or so?

All insights will be appreciated.

She always liked to lay in privacy, in the arms of jackets, or blanket folds, or under the nesting box. Recently we boarded that up so she can lay only in the nesting box proper. She laid about 2 eggs after that, in the nest, but hasn't laid an egg now in 5 days. Could she be upset over the change in the coop, not being able to lay in her old favorite spot? There are some private spots she could lay in the run, if she really wanted privacy?

I'm new to this but is she molting? They usually stop when theyre molting from what I've read

I just found someone's old post from 2009 which claims they stop laying after late spring/early summer, due to the heat, and don't lay again until the following spring. They lay only 60-80 eggs a season, on average.

I feel sooooo much better. I'd hate to lose this sweet little girl. I don't care if she doesn't lay eggs. She is such a beauty, with great ornamental value and a spunky personality that is hilarious to observe, and oh, my, how she can fly!
