Well, I started with 14, just before lockdown I had to cull 3. So 11 went into lockdown. So far we have a total of 8 babies, six are in the brooder, two are still in the bator. One had to be helped out of the egg, so that one will stay in the bator a little longer, the other one in the bator was the last to hatch on its own and she's in there to keep the other one company.
There are three eggs left in the bator. No movement, no pips no nothing out of those, but I'm still going to wait and see. With the other chicks still in the bator with the eggs, they caused such a comotion I couldn't tell if the eggs were rocking on their own, or if the other babies were making them rock. Once I get these last two into the brooder I'll keep an eye on these last three eggs very closely and hope for any signs of life!
Today will be day 23 (actually about 11 PM will officially be day 23) I don't know how much longer to wait on these last three before I give up? But I'm certainly happy with 8 out of 11 and all of the chicks are certainly healthy! I ended up with one red spangled, one black spangled and the rest are barred, so I'm very happy with the colors that I got. I only had three spangled eggs to begin with, so getting two spangled babies is great!
