I'm stuck on this:
I want eggs in the winter and am considering the addition of two bantam Barred Rocks because I've heard that Silkies take a break in winter.
Any advice folks? I'm 20 minutes away from the feedstore and am poised with my keys in my hands... Help!

My silkie was the last of my birds to begin laying at around 9 months of age... and then she went broody about two weeks later! So hopefully she'll lay in the winter, since it's beautiful spring weather and she's not laying now!

She is beautiful and the sweetest of my birds though - totally worth it.

My silkies lay all year round, that is, unless they are broody!

could be shes not "in season" to lay yet. i have a swedish duck that is almost a year in june and she hasnt laid either i think its to do with the cold. but once it gets warmer expect eggs

and yes, I'll post pics

I posted elswhere that I was getting different breeds because I noticed my girls laying slowed down in winter months... I hadn't considered that maybe Pei Pei was going broody... and I should have also attributed it to Ginger being young and new at egg laying last year... AGAIN, thanks everyone, I do believe I learned something here today! Hooray for BYC Forum!
