Do stationary coops stink?

I am working to build a coop out of the dresser that is on my avatar picture.

I wonder if a coop should be much much higher off the ground?

This is my first time raising chickens and building a coop-----that means NO EXPERIENCE>

The dresser legs are really only a couple inches ..............

But if I raise it up I will need to be sure its sturdy.

I am thinking raising it up might help with predator prevention -----but it has a full floor----

I wonder what you experts would advise---

For my climate and bird activity - I rarely put in hay or straw as it just seems to clump and slim ..... so I stick with shavings and leaves and yard grass clippings (I don't both with chemicals and my grass stays happy)
