Do tail feathers grow faster in hens or roosters?

I'm noticing that my 10 day old chicks are starting to grow tail feathers. But upon closer look I realized that only some have tail feathers, not all of them. I'm just curious if it's a boy/girl thing.

We have thought that very same thing. However, it has not been 100% for us - we thought for sure we had a bonus girl b/c of a fast-growing tail but now "she's" crowing. All 12 others with shorty tails have been boys, just that one was wrong.

Girls do feather faster then boys.The boys comb will show first.
