Do the average Barred Rocks lay a light or medium colored brown egg?

I always hear that poor quality Marans lay the same color brown egg as Barred Rocks. Do people use that comparison because Cuckoos kind of look like Barred Rocks, or do most Barred Rocks lay a medium brown and not a light brown egg? I have heard that some RIRs lay a darker medium brown egg, but I always thought Rocks laid the lighter brown. I just ordered some White and Buff Rocks so I wonder what shade of brown their eggs will be...Thoughts??

My Barred Rocks are a light brown and my RIR where about the same color shade. Your other rocks should be around the same shade.

It really varies. My Lexie, early in her cycle, lays a pretty dark brown egg. My other BRs lay a lighter beige.

Mine vary as well. I have two with a darker brown and the others have a beige-ish colored egg.

My Barred Rock's eggs are almost pink. I have two RIR's...one lays light brown large eggs, the other lays medium brown smallish eggs. I think it varies from chicken to chicken. My Australorp lays light brown elongated "bullet shaped" eggs, always with one wrinkled end.
