The local HS has these two soon to be up for adoption. They say they are Great Pyrs but the color seems weird to me. I admit, I don't know all the ins and outs of the breed, but don't they seem mixed with something else to you folks in the know? Maybe I'm wrong.

Definitely mixed. Looks like GP/collie (the one in the second picture, the ear set remind me of a collie's) or GP/Golden mix.

That's what I was thinking. Definitely not pure. I wish they wouldn't do that, list the breed like they know exactly what it is. Sometimes, they guess and say why they are guessing what the cross is, but they didn't this time. The tails seem a tad too curly to me for a Pyr. I know they have flag-like tails, or can hold them that way, but the one photo where the single pup is facing left, her tail seems way too curled for a Pyr.

The people at the HS try to do their best, but no matter what it is still a guess. Sometimes the guess is simply what is popular at the time. I would never expect to find a purebred at a pound, yes they end up there, but never expect it.
The dog we have was from the pound, and he is very obviously a purebred English Setter. By chance, I happened to take him to the same vet that treated him when he was brought to WY from Texas by the original owner, so I ended up with his complete medical record - just not his pedigree. The pound won't pass them on to you when you adopt from them "because it would encourage the new owners to use the dog for breeding". I don't see how since he was neutered before even putting him up for adoption.

Supposedly one of the veterinarians said they are 90% Great Pyr (how he came up with that percentage, who knows?) and maybe some Anatolian. I can see the Anatolian in the curl of the tail, but you're right, they are just guessing from the appearance of the dog and maybe a couple other clues. Not really loving their appearance so will pass anyway.

They have some great pyr features in the face and I agree with you about the antolian. Of course, ask ten people what breed a mixed dog is and you'll get ten different answers :-)

(What I really meant to say Is that they are exactly 32.56% great pyr)
