Do they act sick before they lay there first egg?

Mooshu my barred rock has been hanging out in the coop all day today and she seems down and quite? Is this a sign of her going to lay an egg or could she be sick? She did run from me when I went to pick her up. But she wont eat treats or come out of the coop. She five months.

I've never noticed any "acting sick". Is her comb red? Has she squatted at all? When you say she is hanging around the coop, is she in a nesting box, or just standing lethargically somewhere?

Shes just standing in the corner her comb is red and really big for three weeks now but I havent seen her squatting.

I have never noticed any "acting sick" either before they lay. I suggest doing a little research on here about "eggbound" as that might provide a possiblity for her behavior. Best wishes to Mooshu!!

Well she finally started acting normal today around 2pm. So Im hoping maybe she was just sleepy today lol.
